BAIHATA CHARIALI, July 23 - Acting on a tip-off, Kamrup police on Thursday arrested seven persons from Changsari police station area for their involvement in ATM theft.
They have been identified as Abhijit Borah (28), son of Padum Borah of Kalugaon village under Jaysagar PS, Ramen Dutta (41), son of Late Manik Dutta of Kalugaon village, Tarikul Ali (24), son of Intajul Rahman of Saniadi village under Hajo PS, Ainul Ali (37), son of Late Taleb Ali of Ramdia Ujankuri Muslim Para under Hajo PS, Pabitra Borah (35), son of Rajen Bora of Pachim Jamuna Road under Sibsagar PS, Sanatulla Ali alias Bihari (30), son of Raham Ali of Natun Saniadi under Hajo PS and Rijuwan Ali (24), son of Amjed Ali of Ramdia Ujankuri Muslim Para under Hajo PS.
Rama Kanta Borah, SI of North Guwahati Police out post and investigating officer of the case said that on the night of 18/12/2017, the group of miscreants cut the vault and broke down the ATM of Central Bank of India located at Joyguru, Amingaon and looted cash of Rs 12,14,700.00 from the ATM and on July 19 they were detained when they were again getting ready to loot an ATM at the police station area equipped with a Gas Cutter machine, motor and with a Mahindra Xylo vehicle bearing registration numberAS-04 N 6497. Police said that the arrested accused persons were found to be hardened criminals and habitual offenders of ATM burglary in different parts of Assam and outside. After the accused were produced before the court of Sub-divisional Magistrate, Rangiya they were sent to police remand.
