BAIHATA CHARIALI, May 25 - A huge dream of the people of Changsari and its adjoining areas is going to become reality tomorrow when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) proposed to be built at Changsari in Kamrup district.
A festive atmosphere has gripped the entire area with the people celebrating and bursting firecrackers on the eve of the historic ceremony.
Over a thousand people thronged the proposed AIIMS site today. The people heartily welcomed the efforts of the Central Government as well as the State Government to pave the way for setting up the quality health institution in their area and expressed their desire to extend all possible cooperation in this regard. The AIIMS will be constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana at an estimated cost of Rs 1,123 crore. The decision to this effect was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister yesterday, which formally approved the setting up of the institute.
