Change in teachers� mindset stressed

GUWAHATI, Aug 19 � The 65th Foundation Day of the College of Veterinary Science (CVSc), Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara was celebrated with solemnity on August 18 with a day-long programme.

The event started with flag hoisting by Dr RN Goswami, Dean, CVSc followed by Swahid Tarpan and a cultural procession by students, teachers, employees of the institution.

Addressing the audience, Dr Goswami, presented the historical perspective, growth and development and achievements of the college in acting as an instrument of change of social and economic status of the society.

The Foundation Day Lecture was delivered by Dr K M Bujarbaruah, Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University on the topic, �Educating the Educators � A Step Towards Knowledge Society in Animal Science.�

Dr Bujarbaruah emphasized the bigger role of teachers in the creation of knowledge society in the 21st century. He underlined the need for change in mindset of teaching community and adoption of technology in augmenting the teaching-learning process, a press note mentioned. Later, the Vice Chancellor gave away the Late Dr GN Dutta Memorial Best Graduate Award 2012 to Dr Arup Das. Other events included the inauguration of the upgraded gymnasium hall and release of the college anthem by the Vice Chancellor.
