Chakka bandh today

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, June 28 The All Guwahati Share Taxi Owners Association has decided to hike the fares of trekkers plying under its banner, a decision that it says is in response to the sharp rise in the price of petroleum products.

In a statement released to the media, the association criticised the Union Governments move to increase the cost of petroleum products in an arbitrary manner and said that it would not just affect people engaged in operating trekkers but also scores of others who have limited means of income.

Significantly, the association has also supported the chakka bandh on June 29 called by All India Road Transport Workers Federation and All Assam Motor Transport Union.
