Chakat Aboh takes oath as Member of Arunachal House

By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Oct 28 - Newly elected legislator from Arunachal Pradeshs Khonsa West Assembly constituency, Chakat Aboh, on Monday took oath as a Member of the Seventh Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh.

She was administered the oath of affirmation by Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona in a brief ceremony at Dorjee Khandu auditorium of the Assembly Secretariat here this morning in the presence of a few MLAs, including Wanglin Lowangdong and scores of her supporters. Abohs relatives, including her septuagenarian father-in-law Lanmok Aboh were also present on the occasion.

Chakat Aboh, wife of former MLA late Tirong Aboh, who contested the recently-concluded Khonsa West by-election as an Independent candidate with backing of five major political parties, including ruling BJP and Opposition Congress, defeated her lone rival, Independent nominee Azet Homtok by a margin of 1,887 votes.

The bye-election to the Khonsa West Assembly seat was necessitated following assassination of Tirong Aboh, who, contesting on a National Peoples Party (NPP) ticket won the April 2019 Assembly election but was gunned down by suspected NSCN militants near Bogapani village in Tirap district on May 21, two days ahead of declaration of poll results.
