GUWAHATI, June 21 � The Freedom Fighters� Family Coordination Committee has vehemently resented the latest move of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to discontinue the Swatantrata Sainik Samman (SSS) Dependent Family Pension to those who have been drawing State�s dependent family pension and State Freedom Fighter Pension.
The Coordination Committee has alleged in a statement here on Saturday that such a move is an insult to the aged freedom fighters and their dependents and demanded immediate revocation of this move.
The Coordination Committee has further demanded steps to benefit the economically backward sections of the people.
The Government should give up its discriminatory approach of benefitting people on the basis of castes and tribes and initiate a move to benefit those people, who are economically weak, the Coordination Committee added.
