KOKRAJHAR, Aug 12 � The Coordination Committee for Communal Harmony (CCCH) has urged the Union Home Minister to replace K Sallem Ali, the Special Director (Guwahati Zone), a team member of the Central Bureau of Investigation by any other officer barring the Muslim and Bodo community in the interest of impartial inquiry.
In a press meet here at the Kokrajhar PWD guest house, Hemendra Nath Brahma, convener of the Coordination Committee for Communal Harmony informed that the CCCH has urged the Government of India to replace the official from the CBI team in the interest of impartial inquiry.
He has also urged not to include any one, either from the Bodo or the Minority community officials in the team for an impartial inquiry into the incidents of violence in BTAD. Besides, the community has also demanded deployment of more security cover with the help of Army and at the present juncture has appealed to the Government not to withdraw the Army from the trouble-torn areas until a permanent solution is found.
At the same time, they have appealed to the Government to rehabilitate the relief camp inmates in villages only after verification of nationality. It may be mentioned here that the Coordination Committee for Communal Harmony (CCCH) was formed recently at Kokrajhar with the objective to restore communal harmony across communities in the BTAD area.
Meanwhile, a team of the National Minority Commission headed by KN Darawalla visited the violence-hit Kokrajhar district on Saturday to take stock of the situation in the relief camps. On the other hand, Dr Sayada Hameed, Member, Planning Commission, Govt of India and GB Panda, Consultant, Planning Commission, Govt of India also visited Kokrajhar and held discussion with the district administration officials.
