Centre urged to initiate talks with NDFB

UDALGURI, May 5 � The United Democratic Peoples� Front (UDPF) has appealed to the Union Government to initiate the peace process with the banned outfit National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) headed by Ranjan Daimary by bringing him to the negotiation table. This was said by Prodeep Kr. Daimari, spokes man of the United Democratic Peoples� Front (UDPF) and newly elected member from Bhairabkunda BTC seat here at the UDPF office premises on Monday at a press meet. convened by him.

Stressing the need of peaceful negotiation, the UDPF leader asserted that Daimary�s apprehension should not be taken from negative point of view but the government must take this opportunity now onwards for the peaceful settlement of the vexed NDFB imbroglio. � Now the ball is in the court of the government and it should take the opportunity for peaceful negotiation�, he added. The UDPF spokesman also hailed the decision of Jorhat based lawyer to fight the case of Ranajn Daimary and appealed to the Guwahati based lawyers to take an imparitial attitude saying that the law will take its own course and the verdict of the court will be accepted by all.

The UDPF spokesman also criticised the behaviour with the rebel leader of the anti talk faction by the police force at Guwahati and demanded that the family members of the NDFB chief be given a chance to meet him in the same way family members of the top ULFA leaders like Arabinda Rajkhowa were allowed.
