Centre-ULFA peace talks today

By SPl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, June 25 The pro-talk group of ULFA has brought in a jumbo delegation of 27 members to take part in what is being described as a crucial round of dialogue on Wednesday.

The ULFA delegation led by chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, which arrived on Monday has been holding preliminary discussions since yesterday with Centres interlocutor, P C Haldar.

Sources in the Home Ministry have however said that a number of rounds of talks may still be needed before a draft MoU is finalised.

The talks tomorrow would be chaired by the Union Home Secretary. It has been learnt that the two sides are in the advanced stage of resolving the contentious issues contained in the charter of demands presented by the group in August 2011.

The pro-talk faction of ULFA had handed over the framework of charter for negotiation to the then Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram.
