By R Dutta Choudhury

GUWAHATI, July 10 - The Government of India is planning to seek extradition of SS Khaplang, the chairman of the NSCN (K) for his role in creating disturbance in India.

MHA sources revealed that the Government of India is planning to seek extradition of SS Khaplang. Sources pointed out that though Khaplang is a citizen of Myanmar, he and his group have been creating trouble in India. Khaplang has withdrawn from the ceasefire agreement with the Government of India, but he has signed a peace agreement with the Government of Myanmar.

Sources said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is investigating into the killing of 18 Army personnel in Chandel district of Manipur, is likely to make Khaplang one of the accused, following which the Government of India will seek extradition of the militant leader.

The Government of India will approach the Myanmar government for Khaplangs extradition with all the evidence of his involvement in acts of violence in India.

It may be mentioned here that though Khaplang has signed a ceasefire agreement with the Government of Myanmar, he is heading the new platform of four militant groups of North East and the new front is engaged in acts of violence.
