Centre to rush additional forces to State

By Spl CORRESPONDENT

NEW DELHI, May 2 The Centre is rushing in an additional 1,000 para-military troops to the violence-hit BTAD areas.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting at the official level here to review the situation.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has assured Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi that additional companies would be rushed in to reinforce security in the violence-hit areas.

According to Home Ministry sources, the fresh round of attacks were apparently in retaliation to the ongoing operations against the anti-talk songbijit faction of the NDFB in Assam and neighbouring areas

Sources disclosed that Songbojit, who has shifted base to the neighbouring country, issued the order to create rifts and trigger communal tensions in the area.
