Centre to review State security scene

GUWAHATI, Jan 8 � The Union Home Ministry will review the law-and-order situation and the process of rehabilitation of the people displaced in the aftermath of the recent killings by militants belonging to the Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland, at a high level meeting tomorrow.

Official sources told The Assam Tribune that the meeting will be chaired by Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju. Senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), State Government, Assam Police, Army and Central forces deployed in Assam are expected to attend the review meeting. The meeting will also review the operations launched against the militants following the killings on December 23.

Meanwhile, Rijiju met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who is also in charge of the Home Department, this evening and had a detailed discussion on the situation in the State.
