NEW DELHI, Aug 30 � The Centre on Tuesday said that steps have been initiated for holding talks with ULFA on their demands.
Confirming that ULFA had submitted its demands to the Home Minister in presence of Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi on August 5, Minister of State for Home Affairs, M Ramachandran confirmed that action has also been initiated for signing of formal suspension of operation (SoO) agreement with the outfit.
ULFA had on July 12, announced a halt to all forms of armed campaign for an indefinite period. The outfit has also advised its cadres to implement its decision in letter and spirit, the Minister added.
