�Centre of excellence� for State farmers

GUWAHATI, March 6 - In a step to encourage new-age technological intervention, the State Department of Horticulture & Food Processing in association with Saveer Biotech Limited, has designed and created a �centre of excellence� as a demonstrating unit at Field Trial Station, Khetri, in collaboration with the world�s latest technology from Israel, Holland and other European countries.

The centre provides the latest method of farming with new innovated technology where the farmers can learn and adopt the method of farming, training to cultivate, and marketing of their produce with a minimum cost investment.

Saveer Biotech Limited has its own world class facility in Greater Noida which is duly approved by the Union Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Biotechnology and other certification agencies. The company has more than 35 years of experience to create this kind of facility, a press statement claimed.

Saveer Biotech has already installed a fully automated V Type Seedling Production nursery at Ulubari, which was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Rakibul Hussain recently. �With this facility the farmers of Assam can get more than 50 lakh healthy and disease-free early seedlings throughout the year at a minimum cost,� claimed the officials of the firm.

Officials said that the primary aim is to increase productivity of horticultural crops in Assam by demonstrating innovative technologies and also introduce new technology for off-season production of crops for wider availability of produce and also encourage farmers� participation in technological growth in the horticulture industry.
