GUWAHATI, Nov 19 - The ruling BJP today said that the government has not finalised privatisation of the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL)/Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL).

Addressing a press conference, State BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami cited Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhans reply during Question Hour in Parliament wherein the latter said the ministry has not finalised the disinvestment plan of BPCL/NRL.

There is a lot of news in circulation in recent days that NRL will be privatised. Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has today made it clear in Parliament that so far the Centre has not taken any decision regarding NRL, Goswami said.

The State BJP would like to express its gratitude to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and our State unit president Ranjeet Kumar Dass for the special initiative taken by them in this regard, added Goswami.

He said the Chief Minister had written last month to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and also to Pradhan calling upon them to ensure the PSU status of NRL.

Today, the Petroleum Minister has made the facts clear in Parliament. We thank the Prime Minister, the Union Finance Minister and the Petroleum Minister. The BJP government will never act against the interests of Assam, said the senior leader.
