Centre for child scientists

GUWAHATI, Oct 18 � The State Government will set up an innovation centre for child scientists of the State. It will also set up such a centre in each district of the State. This was announced by Chief Minister while inaugurating the 22nd State-level Children�s Science Congress at the Rangghar Bakori of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra here on Friday.

An official press release stated that the Chief Minister also announced the Government�s decision to improve the condition of the Aryabhatta Kendra and laboratories by providing more facilities.

The State Government will undertake new schemes to generate scientific temperament among children and help their innovative skills excel, said the Chief Minister.

Referring to the weather and climate change, which was the main theme of the congress, the Chief Minister said that weather and climate change have been adversely impacting the people. The farming sector is also affected by the climate change phenomenon. New technologies are needed to solve such problems, he said.

The Seuj and Nirmal Assam Campaign of the State Government is also linked with the bids to resist the adverse impact of climate change, Gogoi added.

The Chief Minister also presented the best project makers� prize to Mousumi Dutta of Jorhat Balya Bhawan and Mainang Basumatary of Titkai High School of Kokrajhar district. He also released a journal, Amar Bijnan, the release added.
