NEW DELHI, Dec 18 � In a confirmation of the claims of the Bodo leadership, the Centre has finally admitted that there has been encroachment and transfer of lands in tribal belts and blocks in Assam.
There have been instances of encroachment and transfer of land in tribal belts and blocks in Assam by ineligible persons. The State Government is taking all necessary steps for removing encroachments in tribal belts and blocks, Minister of State for Home Affairs M. Ramachandran said in reply to a question by S.K. Bwiswmutiary.
The resettlement of displaced persons in BTAD areas has become a major bone of contention between the State Government and ruling BPF.
