NAGAON, Aug 27 - A Central team, comprising SK Pradhan, Joint Director, Finance Ministry, Govt of India and OP Suman, Deputy Director, Power Ministry, Govt of India, arrived at Nagaon today to review the recent flood situation in the district and held a special meeting with the district heads of various departments at Nagaon Circuit House.
During the meeting, the officials from the Union Government took the feedback from the officials concerned about the damages caused in the district by the recent waves of flood. Deputy Commissioner, Jadav Saikia, District Development Commissioner, Hemanta Bhuyan, ADC (Revenue) Sanjeev Dalai and all the circle officers of the district were present in the meeting.
Following the meeting, the Central team also visited several flood-affected as well as sites of erosion caused by Brahmaputra in the district like no. 2 Borghuli under Kaliabor subdivision and interacted with the locals.
Meanwhile, our Correspondent from Bongaigaon adds: A two-member Central team comprising Narendra Kumar, Director, Ministry of Agriculture, Kolkata and Harish Kumar Vashisht, Under Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development visited flood-affected no.2 Jamdoha in Bongaigaon district this afternoon and assessed the damages caused by the recent wave of flood by Aie river.
Around thousand families of four villages � Jaraguri part-1, part-2, part-3 and no. 2 Jamdoha � had to take shelter on the main road of Jamdoha after losing home and hearth in the recent flood.
Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner Dr MS Lakshmi Priya shared information with the team members about the damages caused by the flood in Jamdoha area. Flood victims had allegedly felt neglected as the team members did not interact with them to feel their plight and crises. The team members even refused to talk with the media during their visit today.
�We have no confidence on such Central teams which visit after every wave of flood and take no concrete steps to fix the flood problem permanently,� flood victims said.
