Central team visits flood-ravaged areas of Morigaon dist

MORIGAON, Sept 4 - A high-level official team of the Government of India headed by Amarnath Singh, Director, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi today paid a visit to flood-affected Morigaon district and took stock of the post-flood situation in Lahorighat and Bhuragaon revenue circles of the district.

The delegation took part in an official meeting at the Morigaon DC�s conference hall and took first hand information of flood damage from the heads of the departments like Water Resources, PWD, Agriculture, Health, Education etc. The magnitude of damages of the Brahmaputra�s flood in Morigaon district during the monsoon this year is yet to be assessed. The Morigaon DC and his machinery submitted the overall post-flood situation report of the district to the Central government team.

The Central team later visited the Tengagri dyke which was breached by the Brahmaputra and conducted an on the spot study of the catastrophe created by flood and erosion.
