Central team scouting for IARI site

GUWAHATI, Aug 21 - A six-member Central team the from Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR/IARI) comprising Dr JS Chauhan, Dr AK Vasisht, VP Kothyal, Devender Kumar, Dr Robin Gogoi and Amit Mittal, along with Amlan Baruah, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Agriculture Department, and other local officials of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts visited Gogamukh today as part of the inspection tour for selection of the site for the proposed Indian Agricultural Research Institute - Assam (IARI-Assam).

The team will tomorrow attend hold a discussion at Guwahati before returning to New Delhi.

Yesterday the team, along with Mowsam Hazarika, Assistant Director of Agriculture, had visited another site near Madan Kamdev Temple, Baihata Chariali, as part of site inspection for the proposed IARI-Assam.

The visiting Central Site Selection Team will submit the report about the suitable location of the proposed IARI-Assam to the Union Government soon.
