Central team inspects land for proposed AIIMS

RAHA, April 21 � A fourmember team of experts from New Delhi, including representatives from the Union Health Ministry, State Health Department, Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), inspected the site for establishing the proposed AIIMS in the State on Monday. The team visited the site at Garmari.

The team members included KC Chamaria, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health, Government of India, BL Meena, Under Secretary, Government of India, and Manoj Bajpai, chief architect. Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Monalisa Goswami, who received the team members, accompanied them during their visit to the site.

According to officials, 600 acres of land have been marked during the survey for setting up the proposed AIIMS. The team studied a detailed survey report of the area and sought details of infrastructure and logistics like requirement of power, National Highway and rail connectivity, etc., for the construction of the super specialty hospital.

Talking to this newspaper, an official, who requested anonymity, said, �We are happy with the location and have been told that the land is free from all kinds of court litigation.�
