Central Govt move to freeze dearness allowance denounced

By City Correspondent

GUWAHATI, April 23 - The All India Railwaymens Federation (AIRF) has strongly protested the arbitrary decision of the Central government to freeze dearness allowance due from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 and demanded withdrawal of the decision in the interest of better industrial relations.

The railway employees and the railway pensioners have been shocked at the arbitrary order to freeze dearness allowance to the Central government employees and dearness relief to the pensioners although the prices of all essential commodities have been increasing unabated day by day. The railwaymen have been working round the clock to reach essential commodities across the country forgetting their family commitments during the present pandemic situation created due to coronavirus, AIRF president Rakhal Das Gupta said in a press statement.

The statement urged the government not to compel the railwaymen to intensify their agitation which may cause serious industrial unrest in the country.
