Central Assam Zone take command

GUWAHATI, Aug 10 - The Central Assam Zone were in a commanding position on day one of their two-day match of the Assam Challenger League against Northern Assam Zone at the DN Singha Stadium in Goalpara.

Put in to bat, the Central Assam boys were sitting pretty with 230 runs for the loss of six wickets in 84 overs.

In another match at the NFRSA Stadium at Maligaon, Upper Assam Zone were in control with 77 runs on board for the loss of one wicket in reply to Southern Assam�s 158.

Brief scores: Central Assam Zone 230/6 in 84 overs (Abhishek Thakuri 66, Rajjakuddin Ahmed 36 n.o, Chandan Rawat 34; Sujay Tarafdar 2/24).

Southern Assam Zone 158/10 in 62.4 overs (Manoj Malo 31, Jitumoni Kalita 26, Dipok Gohain 3/41, Pallav Kr Das 2/22, Raj Agarwal 2/22).

Upper Assam Zone 77/1 in 27 overs (Pallav Kr Das 52 n.o, Pritam Debnath 21 n.o; Chanakya Sarma 1/16).
