KALAIGAON, Nov 5 - Paneri Police Station, established in 1901 is one of the oldest police stations in Assam. The centenary celebration of Paneri police station and the Kali temple (which too was established hundred years back at the PS premises) organised by the people of Bhergaon subdivision concluded on October 30 recently with a two-day colourful programme.

On the concluding day on October 30, lighting of lamps marked the beginning of the events followed by a cleanliness drive by VDP members which was inaugurated by Thomas Daimari. An interactive session was also held at 10 am which was anchored by Jayanta Chakravorty, associate professor of Tangla College. Senior journalists of Darrang Bhargab Kumar Das (The Sentinel) and Mayukh Goswami (The Assam Tribune) participated as speakers while BP Barkakati, Addl SP, Udalguri attended as the special guest.

The open session was held at 1 pm which was presided over by minister Rihon Daimari.
