GAURIPUR, Sept 10 - The closing function of centenary celebration of the Gauripur branch of Asam Sahitya Sabha will be held with a two-day colourful programme on December 21 and 22 next.
A strong celebration committee has been formed with Kshitish Chandra Ray, Dhirendra Nath Adhikary, Manas Chakrabarty, Sohrab Ali Sheikh, Arindam Chakraborty, Mowajjem Hussain Talukdar, Manik Shil, Dr Gita Sarkar, Pranab Kumar Barman, Gunu Chandra Mali, Mahidul Azam Sarkar and Ashutosh Ray as president, working president, vice president and assistant secretaries respectively. Satyabrat Chakrabarty and Malabika Dihidar and Mrinmay Kumar Deb Adhikary have been nominated as editor and cultural secretaries respectively. Several subcommittees have also been formed for the smooth conduct of the celebration.
The celebration committee has decided to unveil a half-size statue of Amrit Bhusan Deb Adhikary, the illustrious son of Gauripur and the fifth president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha on the auspicious occasion, informs Kshitish Chandra Ray, the president of the committee.
