Centenary celebration of Goreswar LP School

GORESWAR, Aug 26 � The centenary celebration of No 142 Goreswar LP School established in 1901 at Goreswar in Baksa district will be celebrated here at the school premises with a three-day- long programme on January 20, 21 and 22 next year.

The actual date of its centenary celebration was supposed to be observed in 2001 but due to unavoidable circumstances it could not be celebrated in time.

Meanwhile, a public meet was held on the occasion on June 15, 2011 where it was resolved that the date of the centenary celebration will be from January 20-22, 2012. In this connection, an 11-member steering committee along with as many as six sub-committees of various departments has been formed. A tentative budget of Rs four lakh and two thousand has been fixed as expenditure for the celebration.

The president and secretary of the steering committee Hari Charan Deka and Soneswari Boro respectively have urged the ex-students of the school, teachers, guardians and well-wishers of the vast Goreswar area as well as others to help financially and physically to make it successful.

Besides, a souvenir will also be brought out on the occasion. Hence, the president and secretary of the souvenir sub-committee have appealed to the writers to send their write-ups to the secretary souvenir sub-committee, centenary celebration of No. 142 LP School, Goreswar, Baksa district, BTAD (Assam), on or before August 31, 2011, a press release added.
