GUWAHATI, July 18 - Anna Devi, one of the oldest citizens of Guwahati, was felicitated at her Panjabari residence by a delegation of some local socio-cultural organisations here on Friday.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, senior journalist DN Chakravartty congratulated Devi on completing 101 years of an active and healthy life. The delegation included Atul Tamuly, Tamak Ranjan Dutta and Kukil Bora.
Acknowledging to the felicitation, Devi recalled her early childhood and youth when she had to endure tremendous social pressure because of the prevailing conservative behaviour and outlook of society during the pre-Independence era.
