Cell formed to redress LPG consumers� complaints

GUWAHATI, June 17 � The Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup Metropolitan, has constituted a complaint cell to deal with public grievances relating to supply of LPG cylinders to registered consumers. The complaint cell will run under Nareshwar Upadhaya, ADC, Kamrup Metro.

The duties and functions of the cell are to act promptly on receipt of complaints from registered LPG consumers regarding delay in delivery of LPG refills against booking or high charges against LPG refill cylinders by LPG distributors or their delivery boys, ensure cent per cent home delivery of LPG cylinders to consumers within the stipulated time of 21 days from the date of receipt of the earlier LPG cylinder by each registered consumer, ensure automatic registration of bookings of registered consumers for the subsequent LPG cylinder after 15 days of delivery.

The cell will also monitor daily receipt and disposal position of LPG cylinders by each LPG distributor of the district and ensure submission of monthly reports to the Government.

The cell will further intensify joint raids to detect alleged unauthorised use of LPG cylinders of domestic category in commercial establishments and blackmarketing of such cylinders by sections of individuals or unscrupulous traders.
