IMPHAL, Jan 23 - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora is likely to visit Manipur shortly in connection the 17th Lok Sabha elections-2019, State�s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) PK Singh said.
Arora, who took charge last month, will oversee the mammoth Lok Sabha elections taking place this year.
Speaking to reporters on the sideline of a poll familiarisation drive here on Wednesday, the CEO said instructions have been given to complete the posting and transfer of officials by February 28. A video conference with the CEC and the State officials including Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu and DGP LM Khaute was held on Tuesday, he informed.
Preparations for Lok Sabha elections is underway in Manipur where 19,30,912 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise, he added.
More than 4,000 EVMs are already placed in the strong rooms and those are being checked by over 20 engineers of Bharat Electronics Ltd.
He said that 79 companies of paramilitary forces including 39 companies from the State were deployed in the State during the 2014 election. Similar arrangement is expected this time too.
