CCSU astronomy, astrophysics summer school

GUWAHATI, May 20 � The Cotton College State University (CCSU) is organising the CCSU Astronomy and Astrophysics Summer School, 2015 from June 22 to July 11 with the support of the Friends of Cotton.

The summer school will be held at the Panbazar campus of the CCSU and it will cover a wide range of topics including stars and stellar evolution, binary stellar systems, interstellar medium, pulsars, gravitational waves, galaxies, clusters of galaxies and active galaxies, cosmology and large-scale structure formation, said CCSU Vice Chancellor Dr Dhruba Saikia in a press release here on Tuesday.

There will be hands-on experience in data analysis, intensive tutorials, screening of astronomy-related movies and night-sky watching sessions. The school will be targeted at the undergraduate level. Postgraduate and research students can also apply. The deadline for submitting applications is June 1. The faculty members will include internationally known astronomers from both within and outside India.
