CCD directed to pay Rs 4500 compensation

GUWAHATI, June 19 � The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum Kamrup has ordered a Caf� Coffee Day (CCD) of Guwahati to pay compensation of Rs 4500 to Rajen Singh. The Redressal Forum has also directed the CCD to pay the compensation amount within 45 days to the complainant.

The complainant police officer Rajen Singh in response to an advertisement published by Caf� Coffee Day booked four �Grammo Awards Mugs� dated 07/12/2011 and 08/12/2011. The items were offered as �New Year Gift� which was to be delivered on 26/12/2011. The CCD failed to keep their commitment and the complainant received the items 10 days later i.e. on 07/01/2012.

Thereafter the complainant Rajen Singh filed a complaint with the Consumers� Legal Protection Forum, a consumer rights body against the CCD for their deficiency in service and negligence. On behalf of the complainant, advocate Ajoy Hazarika, secretary, Consumers� Legal Protection Forum and advocate Subhash Mohan Sharma, administrator of the Forum had filed a case with the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum Kamrup.
