CBSE topper awarded at Oil Colony

GUWAHATI, Nov 13 � The Luitpar Club of Oil Colony Narangi recently hosted an award ceremony organised by Oil and Gas Employees� Union (Pipeline) where gold medal was awarded to the CBSE topper of the Class X of the 2013-14 batch. Presided over by the president of OGEU (Pipeline) Jadav Chandra Kalita, the meeting was attended by Dr Nani Gopal Mahanta (chief guest), Kamlesh Deka (guest of honour), Rahul Choudhury, GM of Pipeline Services and Gobinda Hazarika, vice president of OGEU, Duliajan.

After a welcome speech by OGEU general secretary RK Deka, Mritunjoy Mohan Bora and his parents � Jitumoni Bora and CM Bora � were felicitated. Mritunjoy was awarded with a gold medal and a certificate. Mritunjoy expressed his feelings and dwelt briefly on how to face to inherent obstacles in life.

Expressing happiness, his parents spoke about the free environment they provided for Mritunjoy coupled with strict administration.

Dr Nani Gopal Mahanta in his speech stressed on the importance of moral education, while Kamlesh Deka shared his experiences on parenting and gave tips on how to be successful.

The importance of a student�s interest in choosing their career was also emphasised. This was followed by audience views like importance of exposure in a student�s life and how important such encouraging ceremonies were. The president talked on how students should keep up with the pace of competition and stay on the right path. The meeting concluded after a poetic vote of thanks by Ranjan Buragohain, OGEU sources said.
