CBSE basketball tourney gets underway

GUWAHATI, Sept 7 - The CBSE Cluster-I (East Zone) U-17 and 19 Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament got off today at the Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Borjhar. The three-day tournament is being hosted and organised by MBRS.

The inauguration ceremony of the tournament was attended by KK Choudhury, Controller of Examinations, CBSE, New Delhi as the chief guest.

A total number of 22 schools, including the host MBRS, are participating out of which 17 are U-19 boys teams and 12 are U-19 girls teams. However, in the U-17 category 7 boys and 10 girls teams are taking part.

Welcoming the participating schools, Dr NK Dutta, the founder and principal of the host school emphasised on the importance of games and sports as precursor of a healthy life and urged all to maintain a benevolent sportsman spirit throughout the tournament.

Chief guest KK Choudhury in his address extended greetings and good-luck to all the participants. He said victory is great, still greater is noble combat.
