CBI, State not interested in Oct 30 blasts case trial: Court

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, June 29 - The Special Court constituted to facilitate fast-track trial of October 30 serial blasts has remarked that the CBI and the State government are not interested in speedy disposal of the case.

The Court has taken strong exception to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the State government for not appointing a public prosecutor having knowledge of Assamese language, despite repeated directions issued by the Gauhati High Court.

The need to appoint an additional prosecutor was necessitated as the senior public prosecutor of the CBI is not well-versed in Assamese language, making it difficult for him to examine the witnesses who only understand Assamese, due to which the trial has come to a standstill.
