GUWAHATI, Sept 27 � The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) conducted a search operation this morning in a house allegedly owned by RH Khan - the prime accused in the multi-crore rupee scam unearthed in the NC Hills district- located in the city�s Baghorbari area..
Sleuths of CBI also picked up two persons, who are staying as tenants in the house for the last eight months, sources said.
RH Khan, a former joint director of Social Welfare Department, who is presently in judicial custody, had allegedly siphoned off crores of public fund meant for development works in the hill district and even is said to have facilitated diversion of funds towards militant activities.
�The CBI sleuths conducted the search operation around 7:30 am and even dismantled a wall of the house in search of money,� sources stated. It needs mention that the CBI had recovered unaccounted money in crores hidden in the garage of RH Khan�s relative around a year back.
The CBI is presently investigating a number of charges relating to siphoning and diversion of public funds through various departments.
Sources further informed that the house is presently looked after by Rahul Khan, a relative of Khan.
