CBI probe demanded

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, June 18 - Welcoming the termination of services of MKR Pillai as consultant at PHQ Kohima, the Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) has appealed to the Nagaland Chief Minister to order a CBI probe to unearth the entire corrupt nexus and put behind bars all involved in the scam.

In a statement, the NPRAAF said removing him from the contractual service alone has not solved the larger issue of corruption.

The people of Nagaland are closely watching the episode as it unfolds. The Chief Ministers sensible action will earn him and the Government credibility which is long lost, it stated.

The NPRAAF stated that there was no need of consultant in the first place, and if at all there was a genuine need of consultant, the Government should have recruited former IPS and NPS officers from Nagaland through an open interview and not directly appointed corrupt former police constable who rose to the rank of ASP through manipulation.

Lauding the IT Department raids on firms owned by Pillai in Kerala and Karnataka, the Business Association of Nagas (BAN) questioned the IT Department in Nagaland under whose nose money was being siphoned off for decades.

In a release, BAN took strong exception to the PHQ still being under the spell of Pillai, by citing statements made by DGP LL Doungel who was trying to shield PIllai by praising him as quite competent and helpful etc.

It also slammed PHQ for being clueless about the Nagaland Police truck found in Pillais home in Kerala. It further termed the suo moto case taken up by State Vigilance Commission (SVC) on appointment of Pillai as totally unsatisfactory and an eyewash because SVC ignored the entire gamut of Pillais role in shady deals, contracts/supplies awarded under the table without NIT.
