Cattle rescued, three held

DHUBRI, Sept 15 - In an operation, troops of Border Security Force under Guwahati Frontier apprehended 3 Indian cattle smugglers and rescued 107 cattle heads from bordering areas of Dhubri, South Salmara Mankachar districts in Assam and Coochbehar in West Bengal on intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

It was informed that BSF BOP NDA of 41 Bn BSF carried out a special operation in general area of village Nepuralga, under Sukhchar PS in South Salamara Mankachar district of Assam and apprehended 3 Indian cattle smugglers along with cattle heads, while these were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

Apprehended cattle smugglers have been identified as Rafiqul Islam, Amildul Sheikh and Shafikul Islam, all are resident of Berabanga village under South Salamara Mankachar district.

Apprehended cattle smugglers along with cattle heads have been handed over to Sukhchar PS in South Salamara Mankachar district for further legal action.

A release from the security forces informed that Seema Prahari of BSF have also rescued cattle heads in various other operations from bordering areas of Coochbehar district in West Bengal and Dhubri and South Salamara Mankachar districts while the same were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
