Cattle-laden trucks seized at Nagaon

NAGAON, July 18 - Based on an intelligence input, Nagaon police seized two trucks along with 45 cattle in two separate drives in the district in two days.

One truck along with 20 cattle was seized on Tuesday night near Katimari area in Nagaon town when the cattle were being carried from Kenduguri towards Silchar with a purpose to export them to neighbouring Bangladesh.

According to sources, police later seized all those cattle along with the truck bearing registration number ML-05-R- 0077 and detained five occupants of the truck.

Another truck along with 25 cattle was seized on Wednesday night by Nagaon police near at Borghat Bypass Chariali when the cattle were being carried in a truck bearing registration number ML-05-S-7717 towards Meghalaya from Sarupathar Bazaar near Jamunamukh in Hojai district. Police later detained four occupants of the truck.

Sources said the inquiry officers are investigating all the papers related to the purchase of the cattle.
