GUWAHATI, Jan 24 � With militancy-related violence on the rise in the State, the Assam Police has declared cash rewards on a number of top NDFB (Songbijit) and KLO leaders.
The list of the ultras includes the general secretary and the C-in-C of KLO, besides other leaders and cadres of both KLO and NDFB(S).
Announcing this at a press conference today, Additional DGP (Law & Order) AP Rout and IGP (Law & Order) SN Singh said that anyone helping in apprehending the ultras alive in any state would be rewarded with cash reward ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh. Moreover, the identity and addresses of the persons providing information about the ultras would be kept secret. �We need people�s cooperation in checking militancy-related violence in the State. We also want to assure that the names and addresses of anyone providing us any information about the ultras would be kept secret,� Rout said.
KLO general secretary Keshab Barman (35) alias Kailash Koch alias Guru, KLO C-in-C Shyam Rai alias Nitya Sarkar alias Abhoy alias Jamal (25) alias Deepak alias Shyam Barman, KLO assistant organising secretary Lal Chand Deka alias Lalo Singh Deka alias Lal Chand Singha alias Jayanta alias Lohit alias Hareswar Barman and KLO cultural secretary Digambar Rai alias Mrinal alias Jivan Koch alias Jibesh Koch alias Dadi alias Kaka top the �most wanted� list with a price tag of Rs 5 lakh each.
Seven other KLO cadres � Dhananjay alias Dayal, Samar Barman alias Samar Roy alias Rambo, Hiranya Ray alias Anath, Swapan Roy alias Dhananjoy Barman, Brindaban Rajbongshi, Paban, and Kaka alias Das alias Jibon Singh � command a reward of Rs 3 lakh each.
The list of NDFB(S) ultras include platoon commander Sijou, deputy commander (southern command) B Thaiijou alias Thaijw, sec commander (Panbari) Megra, second-in-charge, Panbari Platoon Jakhrub, Thangkhi (of Udalguri platoon) and Geolang alias Milan � all carrying a price of Rs 3 lakh each.
The Assam Police also gave phone numbers where one can provide information about the extremists.
