JORABAT, Aug 24 - An amount of Rs 19,91,500 was looted from two NRL petrol pump (Jorabat) employees by miscreants today.
The miscreants numbering around ten came on a Maruti van having no number plate and looted the amount from the manager of the NRL petrol pump, Govind Shetty and assistant manager Omprakash Maheshwari, while the duo was on their way to deposit the amount at the SBI, Jorabat branch.
Shetty and Maheswari were on their way on a Pulsar bike (AS-01-BQ-8401) when the Maruti van came from behind and attacked Shetty, injuring him on the head. They held the manager by his neck and assistant manager by his hand while snatching the bag from them, and made good their escape towards Guwahati. While attacking the duo, the miscreants also sprinkled pepper powder on their eyes.
The DCP of East Police district Iftekar Ali and Jorabat police outpost took cognizance of the case and investigations are going on.
