GUWAHATI, March 3 - A team of government railway police today apprehended one Monoj Francis (39) from the Guwahati railway station on charges of carrying Rs 38 lakh in cash without any proper documents. According to a statement issued by GRP, Francis, who is a businessman based in Jorhat, boarded the Vivek Express from Jorhat and was heading to Kanyakumari.
Later, he was handed over to the income tax department.
On the other hand, the GRP personnel deployed in the Guwahati railway station seized six gold bars weighing 499 grams and worth Rs 16,50,000 from the possession of one Amzad Ali (35) yesterday evening. Ali hails from West Bengal.
