GUWAHATI, Oct 4: Nearly one year after they were arrested in connection with the cash-for-job scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), the Gauhati High Court today granted bail to nine State government officials.
The bail was granted primarily keeping in view the length of detention and the fact that charge-sheet against them has already been submitted.
Those granted bail include Deepak Khanikar, Kunal Das, Sabira Imran, Sudipta Goswami, Geetali Doley, Rumi Baruah, Dilip Kumar Kalita, Sunaina Aideo and Badrul Islam.
The accused were arrested by the Dibrugarh Police in November 2017 on charges of securing job by payment of cash. The bail was granted today by the Court of Justice Rumi Kumari Phukan.
So far, more than 50 ACS, APS and allied service officials have been arrested in connection with the case.
