GUWAHATI, July 19 - The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that the ongoing investigation into the cash-for-job scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) proves the State governments zero tolerance policy on corruption.

State BJP general secretary and spokesperson Rupam Goswami said the probe is being conducted in the spirit of no favouritism, no discrimination and no compromise.

The Chief Minister had announced the day he assumed charge that there would be zero tolerance with regard to corruption. It does not matter if anybody is the daughter of an MP or the son of a judge, Goswami said.

He also refuted suggestions of any divergence within the party on the matter, especially in view of the fact that the name of the daughter of RP Sharma, a BJP MP, also figures in the list of officers arrested by the police in the case.

Anybody found guilty by the court of law will be punished and anybody found innocent will be acquitted. Just because Sharmas daughters name figures in the case does not make him guilty and it does not mean that he will not be given ticket in the next polls. Those are totally different things, he said.
