Cash carrying beyond Rs 50,000 banned

SIVASAGAR, March 16 - In the wake of the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct due to the ensuing Assembly elections, the Sivasagar District Election Officer has banned carrying of cash beyond Rs 50,000. The order comes into force with immediate effect.

The District Election Officer, through a press communiqu�, has informed that in view of the Model Code of Conduct during elections, carrying of cash, liquor, arms or any other items for gratification of voters will be considered violation of the MCC which is a punishable offence.
