Career counselling prog concludes at Udalguri

UDALGURI, June 23 - The Udalguri district committee of All Bodo Students� Union (ABSU) organised a day-long programme on counselling on alternative career and skill development at the premises of Udalguri College auditorium for the students.

A total of 500 students from neighbouring and remote areas participated in the programme which was held yesterday.

The programme got under way with the keynote address being delivered by Dipen Boro, vice president of the students� body. The meeting was chaired by Ananda Daimary, president of Udalguri district committee of ABSU, while it was inaugurated by Dilip Kumar Das, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri district.

Ananda Prakash Tiwari, Mission Director of Assam Skill Development Mission attended the programme as the chief guest. Ranjan Kumar Baruah, Career Counsellor and Director of North East Youth Foundation also delivered his speech and dwelt on various options and alternatives for those who could not perform well in the final examination.

Pinku Choudhury, Assistant State Project Manager of ASDM, Longnit Terang, Superintendent of Police of Udalguri district Dr Luke Daimari, Principal of Udalguri College also attended the programme.

During the programme, Dipen Boro, vice president of the students� organisation stressed on choosing alternative career through the ASDM for those students who either failed or did not fare well in the final examination, a press release stated.

Delivering his speech, Tiwari dwelt on the changing scenario of career prospect and the unemployment of the present generation. He also announced that more such programmes would be carried out in the State soon.
