DIBRUGARH, April 23 - In yet another crackdown, a joint team of district administration, food safety inspector and police yesterday evening raided some seven godowns in Kalibari area here and recovered a huge quantity of artificially-ripened bananas.
The team of district administration was led by Assistant Commissioner Rashmi Pratap. The seized bananas were found to be artificially ripened with calcium carbide for business benefits. The officials said that bananas treated with calcium carbide are unfit for human consumption.
