SILCHAR, April 16 - In a first of its kind initiative in the North East, Akashvani Silchar launched the Captive Earth Station (CES) services at the local station here today. Cachar DC Dr S Laxmanan launched the CES services alongside E Siddahiah, Deputy Director (Engineering) of Doordarshan Kendra, Silchar and and additional in-charge of AIR Silchar�s Engineering Section, Station Director of Akashvani Silchar Dibyojyoti Purakayastha, Assistant Engineer KP Yadhav, News Editor Sanjeev Sharma and other officials. �AIR Silchar is the first non-capital station to launch the CES facilities. Now, news content and programme broadcast from this station can be downloaded and used for re-broadcast by any other AIR station across the country. This would enhance the reach of Silchar in the national radio connectivity.
