Candidates throng DC offices

SILCHAR, March 25 - With only a day left for submission of nomination papers for the second phase of Lok Sabha election to be held on April 18, the office premise of the Deputy Commissioners at Cachar and Karimganj became a carnival as candidates made a beeline on Monday for submitting nominations.

In Silchar, candidates of the Indian National Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, SUCI(C) and Independent candidates submitted their nomination papers before the DC and Returning Officer Laya Madduri. The candidates who filed their nominations include Dr Rajdip Roy (BJP), Sushmita Dev (INC), Shyamdeo Kurmi (SUCI(C)) and Dilip Kumar(Independent).

In Karimganj, over 1000 cadres of the Congress accompanied Swarup Das who filed his nomination papers before Karimganj Deputy Commidsioner PB Roy. Sitting AIUDF MP from Karimganj Radhe Shyam Biswas also filed his nomination. Chandan Das filed his paper as a Trinamool Congress candidate.
