AGARTALA, Feb 15 - The by-election to Charilam Assembly constituency in Tripura, which fell vacant following death of the CPI(M) candidate on February 11, will be held on March 12, official sources said here today.
The ECI has already issued notification for conducting the by-election. The last date for filing of nomination by CPI (M) will be on February 22 next. As per the decision, only CPI (M) will be allowed to file a fresh nomination and other nominations are declared as valid.
Ramendra Narayan Debbarma, CPM candidate and sitting MLA of Charilam in Sepahijala district died of cardiac arrest on February 11 that has resulted in holding the by-election.
