GUWAHATI, April 28 - More than 40 companies participated as recruiters in the 5th Mega Campus Placement Drive held at Assam Downtown University on Saturday, stated a press release issued here.
There were over 1,000 vacancies, for posts across India with packages up to Rs 9 lakh per annum. Various educational institutions from across the North East were invited to participate in the placement drive, which was completely free for all students.
Around 6,000 candidates registered online and many others also walked in directly to participate in the interviews conducted at the university campus in Panikhaiti.
The job fair was inaugurated by Assam Downtown University Vice Chancellor Dr Amarjyoti Chaudhary. The drive was conducted by the Career Development and Placement Cell of the university, and was supervised by placement officer Rimjhim Baruah Bora and additional placement officer Ipsita Bora.
Assam Downtown University has been organising placement drives since the last five years.
Reputed organisations and companies like Wipro, Genpact, Just Dial, Next Education, Downtown Hospital, Mercedes Benz, Bata India, Mekle Sokrati, Jubilant Foodworks, Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, Piramal Group, Cipla, Extra Marks Education, WNS, Reliance Jio and others took part in the drive, the release stated.
